Parents Overview

Parent Communication at MSAB

At the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind, we believe that strong communication with parents and families is essential to student success, especially for students who reside on campus during the week.

We keep families informed through multiple channels:

  • Progress Reports & IEPs: Families receive progress updates and report cards each trimester or quarter, along with annual IEP meetings.

  • School Updates: We share upcoming events and important announcements by email, regular mail, and/or social media platforms.

  • MSAB Newsletter: Sent monthly, our newsletter provides school highlights, reminders, and student-centered stories with photos. It is distributed to families, community members, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

We also prioritize personal communication. Teachers, dormitory staff, and health staff are proactive in keeping families informed. Whether by phone, email, or in-person meetings, we encourage open and ongoing dialogue.

At MSAB, building strong relationships with parents is a top priority. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s growth and education. We welcome every opportunity to connect and support your family as we work together to meet the social, emotional, and educational needs of your student.
