Choir

Season: All Year

The Choir at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind provides students in grades 7–12 and the Academy Plus Program with the opportunity to explore music, build confidence, and express themselves through singing.

All students with an interest in performing as part of an ensemble are welcome to join, no audition required. The choir fosters teamwork, creativity, and joy in music-making while helping students strengthen their vocal and performance skills.

Throughout the year, the choir performs at school and community events, including the winter and spring programs, where students share their talents and celebrate the arts within the MSAB community.

Choir at MSAB is more than singing; it’s about connection, collaboration, and the shared experience of bringing music to life together.

Rock Band

Season: All Year

The Minnesota State Academy for the Blind Rock Band provides students in grades 7–12 and the Academy Plus Program with an exciting extracurricular opportunity to develop their musical talents through contemporary and collaborative music-making.

Students and sponsors work together to learn new music and bring it to life through live performances. No auditions are required, any student with an interest in playing as part of a band is welcome to join. Rock Band encourages creativity, confidence, and self-expression while building instrumental and performance skills.

Throughout the year, Rock Band performs at school and community events, giving students the chance to share their hard work and connect with audiences in meaningful ways.

Rock Band at MSAB is about more than music. Along the way, students learn to listen to one another, respect differences, work hard as a team, and experience the joy that comes from making music together.

 

Drama

Season: All Year

Drama at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind provides students in grades 6–12 and the Academy Plus Program with opportunities to explore creativity, storytelling, and self-expression through theatre.

Students work collaboratively to develop acting skills, learn stage techniques, and participate in rehearsals and performances. All students with an interest in theatre are welcome, whether on stage or supporting behind the scenes. Drama encourages confidence, communication, and teamwork in a supportive environment.

Throughout the year, students take part in performances and presentations that allow them to share their talents with the school and wider community.

Drama at MSAB is more than performing; it’s about imagination, collaboration, and building confidence while bringing stories to life together.
