Student Body Government

Season: All Year

Student Body Government at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind provides students in grades 6–12 and the Academy Plus Program with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, represent their peers, and have a voice in school life.

Students work collaboratively with advisors and school staff to plan events, discuss student concerns, and contribute ideas that help strengthen the MSAB community. All students interested in leadership, advocacy, and teamwork are encouraged to participate.

Throughout the year, Student Body Government supports school-wide activities, spirit events, and community initiatives that promote inclusion, school pride, and positive engagement.

Student Body Government at MSAB is more than meetings and events; it’s about responsibility, collaboration, and empowering students to lead, serve, and make a meaningful impact together.

International Studies Club

The International Studies Club at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind connects students in grades 7–12 and the Academy Plus Program with cultures, languages, and communities around the world through hands-on learning and global engagement.

Students explore topics such as geography, world history, blind culture across different countries, and international communication. Through discussions, projects, and interactive experiences, the club encourages curiosity, open-mindedness, and a deeper understanding of the global community.

The International Studies Club also offers opportunities for cultural exchange and travel. Students are currently preparing for an educational trip in Spring 2027, with members playing an active role in selecting the next international destination.

International Studies Club at MSAB is more than learning about the world; it’s about building global awareness, respecting diverse perspectives, and preparing students to engage confidently beyond borders.

Book Club

The Book Club at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind offers students in grades 6–12 and the Academy Plus Program a welcoming space to explore stories, share ideas, and enjoy reading together.

Students engage with books through braille or audio description, ensuring accessible and meaningful participation for all members. The club meets once a week after school, providing time for discussion, reflection, and connection around shared reading experiences.

Book selections vary throughout the year and encourage critical thinking, imagination, and thoughtful conversation. Students are invited to express their perspectives, listen to others, and build a sense of community through literature.

Book Club at MSAB is more than reading; it’s about accessibility, connection, and the joy of discovering stories together.
